We just love vintage shakers to store our glitter in. We think that the shakers really show off the glitter and these will just look stunning in your craft room or workspace.
Now, we have been collecting these for a while and now have started to sell them in our online store. For the most part, these are "one of a kinds" and we are selling them bundled with our great Glitters. (you pick the color, or you could get them as shown in the pictures).
We only have a few of the shakers in the store right now, but should have 10 to 15 different styles, shapes and sizes listed in the next few weeks. Check back often and collect them all!
Sometimes timing is everything! Just after my post this morning I received this email from Caroline at Laughter and Lemondrops Black Glass Glitter photo of the day!
Caroline wrote: "I was so surprised to see this contest since I stayed up late last night making this creation for my mom for a birthday gift." (I love the use of Black Glass Glitter on the base.)
I really enjoyed getting this first thing in the morning and am happy to award Caroline the first winner of the $10 Gift Certificate for our store!
Now it looks as we have bird theme as we look at the next photo from our freind DanieGirlwho uses black glass glitter on many of her creations, including the cute little top hat that Mr Bird is wearing. I love it!
This makes two, and I have more emails to go through! But don't let that stop you, email your photos to me and get the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate!
All of a sudden, Black Glass Glitter is hot, hot, hot. I don't know why, but I would love to see what you might be using Black Glass Glitter for. So, be one of the first five to send in a picture of your project using Black Glass Glitter and I'll give you a free $10 Gift Certificate good for anything in our store!
You DON'T have any black Glass Glitter? Well, we got you covered! Just start with our Black Starter Kit to get a little of everything, including some of our new Violet Dazzle.

In an earlier post, we announced that the Pillow Pack was dead and being replaced by these nice 1oz wide mouth jars. As in any transition, we are in the middle, where some of our product is still packed in Pillow Packs (cute, but harder to open and reuse) and these new Wide Mouth jars. So, during this transition period, if you want to make sure you are getting the jars and not the pillow pack, just leave a comment during check out in the comment field. We read all comments and it is the best way to make sure any special instructions get right to the order desk!
And now, on to the show!
First up, a nice selection of jars, with Ms Purple tipping over to show you her glittery goodness.
I keep my Glitter stacked in these little boxes aruond the shop. They look cute and you can find what you need quickly!
I also like to use shakers for the Glitter, but most are just too big. A 3" shaker can hold almost a 1/4 pound of glitter. That's a lot of glitter!
And, finally, a close up of one of our Exclusives. These are glitters that are unique to Meyer Imports, but more on that later!
Sometimes no matter how you try, your timing is just not right. I found a bunch of vintage Glitter Bottles that I just had to have, only to find out that were already to sold to some other unknown party. So, today I am a sad, sad, clown.
But, I can share the pictures with you! So if you every see something like this let me know.... Would love to have added these to my collection!
Debbie Hodge has been featured on our blog before <click here> and I just got word that she and the fun, fun folks at Whimzy! are holding a class with Debbie on Saturday, April 16th from 12-4. For the class fee of $100.00 Debbie will show you all her tricks and techniques, and probably a few Glittery surprises! Only a few seats remain so click hereto reserve your spot!
While our Glitter looks great on anything you use it on, it also looks great in great looking jars, shakers and vials. I am really getting into vintage shakers and will be adding some to the site real soon, but today I wanted "announce" we have a new small vial that is totally cool in our store.
Round on the top, square on the bottom, tapered interior. Holds about 1/8 oz of Glitter and is around 2" tall. They are sold empty, so you can fill with your favorite colors! Comes with the cork. Wholesale quantities are available if you need a bunch! Click here to see pricing.
One of the most common questions we get is about the "grits" (or grain size) of our German Glass Glitter. This question, and the success of our Sample kits from last week, gave us another great idea. Glass Glitter Starter Kits!
A very cost effective way to try all our Grits and coming soon, all our colors! In each kit you will get a huge olde pinch of each of our 70 Grit (Chunky), 80 Grit, 90 Grit and 100 Grit (fine). Plus a free bonus color with every Start Kit!
The first two of these kits are now available (Silver and Gold), with more coming next week! Click here to see all of our Starter Kits!
I like old Glitter Containers. I believe I have the largest collection of old Glitter containers in the world.
I have three. As I do not know anyone who collects these as I do, I am assuming that my collection is the best in the world. I have found another fourth container, and I hope to add it to my collection as well, but the negotiations over this new piece are still underway, and you never know how these "deals" will end up. Very, very tricky.
Some of my Glitter containers actually contain some glitter. Not very usable due to it's age, but that is not the point. As a collector, I am looking for rare and usual pieces to add, if they still hold some old Glitter, that is just a bonus. As you can see, the glitter is very tarnished, a clear sign that this was great Glitter is it's day.
I have been offered millions of dollars for my complete collection of three cans (actually, two cans, one bottle), but I can not sell. When you have something this rare and special, how could you ever put a price on it. I will just continue to scour the world looking for more containers to help build my collection. And yes, these are insured with Lloyds of London, (of course). Something this rare, well, you have to take precautions. If you see an old Glitter can or bottle, let me know. My negotiation team is on "hot standby", ready to fly the globe is search of old Glitter containers. That's just the way we roll over here.
While we talk about our Glitter in most of blog posts, the reality is that we probably sell as many Vintage German Miniatures as we do Glitters. (A true fact). Maybe we should call this blog, "Everything Glitter and Tiny" or something like that.
Just in case do you not believe me, just check this out! Jennifer Arndt has sent us photos of some of the items she has created from our German Miniatures and there is so much to see in her Etsy Shop. Really impressive! Can you find all the little goodies from Meyer Imports in these photos? There is a bunch of them! To learn more about the history of our miniatures, just click here. To see Jennifer's Shop, just click here! And now, onto more great pictures of her creations!
I just wanted to share with you what the first of our "You Choose" Glitter kits look like. Early this week I offered out Five of these sets where you got not only free samples, but also got to choose just the colors you wanted.
As you can imagine, the free kits went quickly (the offer is over now - sorry) and we got the first ones out the door yesterday.
And now I can share the first of what the kits look like, and how much glitter you get in these little devils! Under each little polybag is the name and part number of the Glitter, so you always know exactly what you are working with! It is a great way to "test" our products and something that we are going to be expanding to other items over the next few weeks! This is what can come to except from us, and one of the reasons we are know as the Glass Glitter Experts.
Well, our "You Choose Sample Kits " are off to a great start, all five Free kits have been called for and are now moving to shipping. Just for grins, I am only to take photos of each kit, so you can see what your fellow crafters and Glitter-ettes are asking for! Should be interesting to see what is HOT right now.
So, thanks for making this concept work, and thanks again to Hollance for another great idea! You are da' man Hollie-baby!
