This and That from Tami

One of the wonderful aspects of our business is that we sell to bloggers. Not on purpose, but it is just a natural result of who our customers are. And, if you want to see Social Networking in action, just have bloggers as customers. Wow.

Take Tami as an example, someone, somewhere did a mention of us to a group of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint dealers, and all of a sudden we got alot of orders from the Chalk paint crowd who wanted to use glitter in their designs. (I still do not understand this connection of Chalk Paint and Glitter, if anyone can help me understand it, please do drop me a note!)

Now, I can not tell you if Tami found us because of the Chalk Paint connection, but if you check her blog, Chalk Paint is one of her main topics. But now Tami (bless her heart) did a shout out to us on her blog, and another group of artist and crafters hear about us and start placing orders. It's just a beautiful thing.

We really do not run any ads, just my little blog, an email to everyone once in a while, some Facebook, and good old word of mouth! And this seems to be all we need to do, as when folks like Tami start to talk about your product and give such a nice real world example of "Glitter in Action" who could ask for more!

So, Thanks Tami, you will be getting my "Blogger Appreciation Kit" in the mail! More of this kit later, but Tami will already know all about it, in just a few days........

Awesome Photos - Great Tips — Wishes Designs Glitter

Whenever I see a store that carries Glitter, I always stop and take a look. But I really did a double stop at Wishes Designs when I saw their photos. Being kind of a connoisseur of Glass Glitter photos, I thought these were really great. The older book as a platform to frame the shot, the stack of colorful jars, the pink flower for color contrast. Really nicely done.

And the use of background focus to direct the eye to the "sparkle" is smart. The glitter looks great, the photos look great and the store looks fantastic! You can just tell when a store is being run by true craft / artists. (not like me, a fake craft artist who is doing the best I can....) I learn alot from their shots, and you can see all their design flare, by clicking over to Wishes Designs!

Birds, Snowmen and German Pretzels

So, what do German Pretzels, Birds, Snowmen and Meyer Imports all have in common? Running Rabbit Studios and Roxanna Groves!

You see, I love German Pretzels, (and so does Roxanna) and of course anything Glittery (and so does Roxanne!)

So today we are featuring two of her projects, and one of her recipes. It just does not get better than this! We have one photo above (thanks for sending this in Roxanna!) of her Glittery Sheet Music Birds (These birds were immensely popular at Christmas, are made from papier mache and old sheet music, and she is now  going to do them for her gallery!)

And here is are her wonderful Snowmen made from old salt shakers with our DecoBeads! (very cool idea). And I love the part of the project post that goes "something, something, something else but Meyer Imports gets my vote for buying a large quantity". I read that a few times! But does this mean we need more colors? Better Colors? What does Martha have that I don't. (must look into this one!).

And once your Birds are all Glittery and your Snowmen are full of sparkles, it is time to sit down to a good warm German Pretzel. Are they hard to make? No! And here is the recipe! I am whipping up a bunch right now!

Miniature Glitter Paper Houses created by Karin Corbin

When it comes to paper houses, Karen is one of our favorites! Her little tiny paper houses are some of the nicest around and she provides step by step instructions on how to build her designs. The detail of her houses are not like the cheap imported things you see at Target, these are really nice designed kits you can put together and glitter up with your favorites colors and textures.

Mushrooms, Glitter and Christmas, Oh My!

Another great blog post from Paula at Creating in Glass Slippers (you might remember her from the SnowFlake project of last week). As a follow up to that, we are happy to see that Paula is featuring both our Mushrooms and our Glitters! (Kind a double wammy of products!)

And Paula has done a great job in detailing the project step by step, she is also offering mushrooms in her Etsy shop (worth a look as well!)

Creating for Christmas ~ Red Velvet Gift Bags

Sometimes just using Glitter is not enough. Sometimes you just want to make your gift even more extra special. And on Heartfelt Vintage Home, Kimberly is really making my crafting skills look embarrassingly weak, because she had created both a beautiful Glitter Christmas Ornament, plus a rich Red Velvet Bag. Wow, who would not want to get this as a gift?

Since I got on the subject of Glittery Pinecones, they have been coming at me with a rush! I love this one, which is combining the beauty of the lowly pinecone, with the sparkle of Glitter, and a deer on top. Does it get better than this? Marian at Mustard Seed Interiors is one of our favorite customers and a enthusiastic fan of Glass Glitter as well. And since I just did a post on "could I Glitter that" which included Glittery Pine Cones, I thought a nice follow up would be this post on How to Glitter Pine Cones!

And yes, there is a technique to it and while not difficult, for the best results, do as Miss Mustard Seed does!

Now this is my favorite picture, just look at all that luscious Glass Glitter, almost jumping out of the craft tray to leap onto the pine cone. Each little grain of glitter hoping that they will be selected to be "one" with the pine cone for ever and ever.

Yes, I do get carried away a little bit when it come to glitter, but it really is a great picture.

Meyer-Imports – Have you ever purchased from this company? I first heard of them from Miss Mustard Seed’s blog. She recommended them for their glass glitter. Well folks, they not only have amazing glitter but they also have awesome customer service! Hold on to your hats – When you call them, you can actually talk to a LIVE person! Better yet, that person is not reading from some sort of script! I’m planning an “Intro to Glass Glitter” class soon and they have just been awesome to work with. Go check them out!

Jayne Asks "Think I could glitter that??" Yes you can!

 

We have found that Glitter creates long time friendships, as we "glitterers" are a different breed altogether. When you start to see the world into two separate categories, things you may glitter, and things you can't glitter, you know you are just not quite the same as the non-Glitterers.

Examples:

• Pine Cones, Cutout Stars, Putz Houses - Yes, may be Glittered.

• Small Children, Pets, Bath Water -  No, should not be Glittered.

As further proof of this phenomenon of the true Glitterer, our friend Jayne (Daisey Jayne~ make, restore, reinvent)ends her blog post with the line:

Everything looks better with a touch of glitter!

While we certainly do agree with the sediment, we still prefer our small children without Glitter!

However, what Jayne does prove in her blog is how glittering can allow you to see the simple things we all have around us in a totally different light, the light that sparkles off Glass Glitter.
